La serie 2.6 del núcleo Linux ya casi está aquí
Algunos usuarios nos remiten la publicación de la primera versión de prueba de lo que será el núcleo 2.6.x de Linux. Por un lado, djgera nos remite el aviso enviado por Linus a la lista de desarrollo (en la página de esta historia). Por otro, GomoX nos cuenta y advierte: «Como se ve en Kernel.org, ya ha salido la primera versión test del kernel 2.6. Es importante saber que hace falta una nueva versión de modutils, y que esta no es para nada más estable que las últimas versiones del 2.5, de modo que si siempre has sido un usuario de 2.4, esta release no es para tí.»

the naming should be familiar - it's the same deal as with 2.4.0.
One difference is that while 2.4.0 took about 7 months from the pre1 to
the final release, I hope (and believe) that we have fewer issues facing
us in the current 2.6.0. But very obviously there are going to be a
few test-releases before the real thing.
The point of the test versions is to make more people realize that they
need testing and get some straggling developers realizing that it's too
late to worry about the next big feature. I'm hoping that Linux vendors
will start offering the test kernels as installation alternatives, and
do things like make upgrade internal machines, so that when the real
2.6.0 does happen, we're all set.

¿Alguien lo ha probado ya?
quiero saber si hay algun problema de tener kernel 2.4 y 2.6 a la vez (problemas con modulos o con programas que hay que actualizar, etc)

Por cierto, segun una ojeada rapida lo que va a venir para el usuario domestico:
Mejoras en el acceso al disco duro, parece que han reescrito bastante.
Las grabadoras funcionaran tal cual, sin emulacion scsi ni paranoias (ademas que ahora funcionara ocn dma, antes parece que no)
Mejor latencia, esto lo notaran quien tenga cientos de procesos a la vez (planificacion de procesos, multitarea preemptiva, mejoras en el threading, llamadas a sistema mas rapidas...)
VM: Deberia de mejorar el rendimiento en general
Usb 2.0, parece que lo han mejorado bastante
Configuracion en gnome: make gconfig!!
AGP mejorado
no me voy a poder aguantar, jeje.
