He leido de todo sobre el caso konfabulator vs dashboard. Solo dejare los enlaces a diferentes [konfabulator.com] discusiones sobre el tema [macosx.com].
Unas perlas:

...in MacOSX.com a guy who claims to know Arlo is claiming that Arlo knew about Dashboard for weeks before it came out. Arlo used to work at Apple and got fired, so this is not surprising. The guy says that he came out with the Expose features because he knew thats the way Dashboard was going to work. Arlo had the stuff up for the "Cupertino, start your photocopiers" too fast for him to have just seen it that day.

So lets look at the facts.
1. Dashboard is a way to view different types of information with mini applications
2. Konfabulator does very very similar things
3. Dashboard is highly dependent on Expose
4. Konfabulator's concept is a "rip off" of Active Desktop
5. Active Desktop has been around since IE4 came out for Windows 95
